The Forest Stewardship Program is administered in partnership with the Florida Forest Service. It helps private landowners develop plans to increase the economic value of their forestland while maintaining its environmental integrity for future generations. Florida established Wildlife Best Management Practices for forestry and agriculture under two distinct programs, becoming the first state in the nation to adopt WBMPs as an alternative to incidental take permitting for state-listed species. The voluntary, non-regulatory programs provide practical and meaningful conservation measures that balance sustainable use and conservation of natural resources on Florida farms and timberlands. Private Landowner Surveys
Since 2008, surveys of private landowners across Florida have provided the Landowner Assistance Program with important information and feedback on the wildlife-related needs of Floridians. These surveys help FWC staff to understand landowner demographics, management trends, and preferences for outreach and management assistance.
