Management Plans for Imperiled Species

Management Plans

Frosted Flatwoods Salamander

Several single-species focused plans have been created under the listing process that was adopted by the FWC in 1999 and revised in 2005. These plans now guide actions in Florida for gopher tortoises, bald eagles, Florida manatees, red-cockaded woodpeckers, peregrine falcons, Miami blue butterflies, and flatwoods salamanders.

The FWC finalized the Imperiled Species Management Plan in 2016. One additional species (the Panama City crayfish) has a draft plan that is being finalized and three other state-listed species already have approved management plans (gopher tortoise, the Florida Black Bear, and Miami blue butterfly).
