Invertebrates

The invertebrate collection contains over 136,000 cataloged lots of preserved specimens and tissues which document the biodiversity of Florida’s marine ecosystems.

The specimens in the collection represent unique records of the vast diversity of invertebrate marine life associated with Florida’s complex marine and estuarine environments. The specimens were collected principally from Florida, Gulf of Mexico, and Caribbean localities, along with miscellaneous collection sites around the world.

An extensive collection of uncataloged specimen lots is also available for graduate and research projects. Please contact the collection manager or the curator for more information.

Loans that are available go through the collection manager. More extensive data may be obtained through the collection manager's or the curator's office.
